Create one self-made video about the topic of your choice for students to learn asynchronously at their own pace.
Guidelines:
1. Focus on one or two learning objectives per asynchronous lesson video. Create videos around 2-3 minutes (for lower level) or 3-5 minutes (for upper level) in length. Including an introduction to what will be discussed in the video and a summary that can help reinforce student learning.
2. Encourage student participation. Address your learners directly and build in activities that they can do on their own. Ask them to reflect on their experiences, consider whether they agree with an argument or work through an example. Put some tools that will allow you to incorporate questions and other interactive elements as another way to encourage participation.
3. Build connections with the students. Let your asynchronous lesson videos be an opportunity for your students to get to know you. Using humor and being creative in your presentation of content will motivate students to watch and help them to remember the lesson content.
4. Encourage students to stay on schedule of accessing the asynchronous lesson videos by integrating them with the synchronous lessons, quizzes, or other course activities in the same week.
5. Provide a time for students to come for further discussion. Close your video by saying "Please do not hesitate to come to me if you have any questions or need further explanation." Don't forget to give the assignment or activities for students along with a deadline before you close your video.
